Ted Talks - Hitting the Major Points

TED Talks:  Jamie Oliver


Here is a great example of the big picture that I am trying to instill in myself and spread the word on.  I don't have kids or a wife, but I do have a nephew and a niece.  I may not see them everyday, but I am extremely proud that my sister's and their respective husbands are doing their best to provide healthy options for their children.  

This doesn't mean Paleo, but it does mean making right decisions on food choices.




TED Talks:  Dr. Terry Wahls


Great talk on the importance of how food items impact our daily health and the implications of these food choices can impact our long term longevity.

Dr. Wahls suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and by changing her diet, she is still able to walk, ride a bike, and continue working.  Her experience on the paleolithic - like diet is now leading the way, in terms of research, to potential treatments of MS and other brain robbing diseases.




Ted Talks:  Dr. Christina Warinner


I include this video because I think there are some major misconceptions by both those who follow the paleo diet and those who tend to demonize it.  I also like the idea that disagreement can lead to a better understanding (Mary, I put this in for you)  I agree with several points in this video on what the diet might have been and better yet that no one can really follow it.  Agriculture has given humans many great gifts and I am very thankful that I am not out there gathering wild vegetables every day.

That being said, there is a trend that she continues to go back to, which is self-evident to the lifestyle that I am trying to achieve.

Please note the trend in these video.  An increase in vegetables (both leafy and root), meat (lean and grass fed) bone marrow, organ meat, nuts and seeds.  The restriction of corn, wheat and soy is also recommended.  This doesn't mean that the whole grain is off limits.  Evidence shows that 30,000 years ago man used a mortar and pestle to grind grains, but it wasn't just the flesh of the grain.  These are thoughts to consider when planning out your next meal.
